Patti DeNucci
DeNucci & Co. was founded in 2001 by Patti DeNucci, an award-winning marketing communications executive, writer, speaker, and consultant. Active in the Austin business community since 1981, Patti has worked in the publishing, agency, corporate, and freelance arenas.
Patti's first experiences in working with freelancers came in 1983. She was an account manager at a marketing communications firm, one of the very first to specialize in the high tech industry. Here she created and collaborated with a select network of freelancers and consultants who complemented the agency’s internal resources.
In 1989 Patti left her agency post and began freelancing as a copywriter and marketing communications consultant. Her business took off quickly, and she was inspired to help other freelancers achieve similar success. In the early 1990s she founded what is now known as Freelance Austin, a networking and professional development group for business-oriented freelancers. Today that group is a sister organization to the Austin Professional Chapter of the Association of Women in Communications (AWIC).
Given that Patti frequently attracted more business than she could take on herself, she began creating her own network of capable freelance affiliates to handle the overflow. Since then Patti has worked with and mentored dozens of freelancers, sharing her knowledge of how to attract great clients and run a thriving, respected freelance practice.
Forming DeNucci & Co. in 2001 was a natural next-step in her career.
Patti’s accomplishments and leadership in her field have not gone unnoticed. In 1997 AWIC named her Outstanding Chapter Member. A year later her AWIC peers honored her again, this time as Mentor of the Year.
Patti has also been nominated for AWIC’s Outstanding Austin Communicator Award, the Austin Women’s Chamber of Commerce Spirit of Women Award, Working Mother Magazine’s Raising a Ruckus Award, and the Austin Business Journal’s Profiles in Power Award.
In addition, Patti is frequently invited to speak at professional events and conferences on topics relating to freelancing, communications, business and balance, and creating authentic, fruitful business relationships. She also offers one-on-one consulting services to those considering freelancing or wanting to improve their success as an independent business person.
